Medusa Medical Technologies

Paramedic AmbulanceMedusa Medical Technologies, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, produces a turnkey system called Siren that consists of proprietary software and PC Tablet hardware to aid paramedic crews in gathering and reporting electronic patient care records (ePCR) with a web interface using Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server on Windows or Linux computers and data warehousing using Cognos 8 BI Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) for data mining.

Avidaid was originally contacted to analyze and evaluate Medusa's processes and procedures and to make recommendations to move them toward ISO 9001:2000 registration.

As this work proceeded, Avidaid was asked to provide a project management resource. Avidaid went on to provide both project management and quality assurance services, making available its proprietary requirements gathering software tool.

As well, Avidaid participated in Medusa's return on investment committees and advised senior management on process control and product realization. Avidaid personnel received training in U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPPA) and the Canadian Protection and Electronic Documents Act of 1999 (PIPEDA).

Three years after the initial contract, Avidaid was again contacted by Medusa to provide the quality management portion of Medusa's project plan for their latest software release.
